If you have an athlete with a limb injury and unable to use that limb, is it okay to load up and continue training on there uninjured side?
Example: Athlete with a wrist injury and unable to grip/push/pull with that arm. Can you continue training their good arm? At what point would this start creating a greater imbalance and would this be counter-productive when an athlete is cleared for training?
I remember hearing or reading a study years ago that if an athlete was in a cast for their arm, and continued training the non-injured side, that they were able to maintain strength that they would have otherwise lost due to the nervous system. I don’t know the validity of this statement.
